29 June 2007
40th Annual General Assembly (AGA)
Site Visits
President, Maga Ramasamy, and Regional V.P., Yousef Yousef, have just completed site visits to Johannesburg and Cape Town. They met with the tour organisers, hotel management and local interliners and report that everything is progressing smoothly for this special 40th Anniversary AGA.
Deposit Deadline
Many registrations have been received without deposits. All application forms and deposits must be received by the registration deadline of 15 July otherwise the registration will be forfeited. No registration will now be accepted without a deposit as a payment to the hotel of USD 200.00 per person must be made by 15 July. After 15 July, rooms will be released by the hotel so requests received after this date will depend on room availability and only bank transfer payments will be accepted.
Registrations
There are currently 275 interliners registered for the AGA so, hopefully, the target number of 300 participants will be surpassed.
Charity
The AGA charity project will focus toward the eradication of poverty and assistance to the children affected by HIV/AIDs in Cape Town. There are two day care centres for the infected children which are run by an organisation called the FIKELELA Aids Project for Children (www.fikelela.org.za) and are supported by the Reverend Desmond Tutu. Interliners are requested not to bring toys with them but to bring any of the following items:
Baby Care Packages
Comfort boxes (from ages 2-8), small tubes of toothpaste, small toothbrushes, small packs of sealed tissues, small packs of sealed sanitary towels and small baby lotions or baby powders
Educational Packages
Aprons, pencils, scissors, flip fine (20 pages), math sets, lunch boxes, pencil sharpeners, glue sticks, pens (blue, black, red), exam pads, erasers, chubby wax crayons, pencil crayons and hard covered paper pads.
Pre- and Post-AGA Tours
All participants for the pre- and post-AGA tours must send the balance of payment in United States dollars before 15 July. Information about how much each individual owes was sent out from this office in a special message on 22 June. Registrations for the tours are now closed. No more interliners can be accepted due to restrictions with the number of airline tickets available.
Grand Venture Bonanza
And the Winner is ...
The third draw of 2007 for a package for two on Saturday, 25 August at the Interairline Club Zurich's Grill Party was made today by IATA Manager, Cargo Services Canada, Flavio Mazzaferro. There were 1,017 tickets in the draw and the lucky winner is Gertrud Ammann from the Interairline Club Zurich with ticket number 70024. Congratulations.
Next Draw
The remaining 1,016 tickets will now be included in the next draw to be held at the end of July for a package for one (based on double occupancy) at the 40th Annual General Assembly in Cape Town from 16-21 September donated by the Africa, Indian Ocean Islands and Middle East Region.
There are still six wonderful prizes to be won in 2007 including the fabulous package to the AGA described above. Once again, therefore, Member Clubs are urged to sell as many Bonanza tickets as possible to generate much needed revenues for the Association. Clubs requiring tickets should order them from Headquarters. Complete details about the 2007 Grand Venture Bonanza can be found of the WACA Web site in the News and Press Releases section: /waca/news.
