42nd Annual General Assembly (AGA): The 2009 Interline Celebration
Registrations
Registrations are going well and a large gathering can be expected in Kuala Lumpur. Interliners are now encouraged to send their registration forms and applicable deposits.
Pre-AGA Tour: Langkawi Tropical Get-Away
The brochure has been modified slightly to clarify the type of accommodation at the Berjaya Spa Resort and a option to pay the balance in United States dollars has been added. There are still a few places remaining on this tour says Secretary General, Julian Chau, who reminds participants on this tour that the payment balance is due by 30 June.
Pre-AGA Tour: The Singapore Explorer
Interliners are reminded that places are still available on this tour which is being hosted by the Airline Club of Singapore.
Post-AGA Tour: Borneo Adventure (Packages A, B and C)
A "standby" list remains in effect for the tours but the lucky participants are reminded that the payment balance is due by 9 July. Julian also advises that following a site visit, the programme for the tours has been upgraded at no additional cost as follows:
1. First Day - Instead of visiting Pu Jih Temple, we will have a Seafood Lunch at Ocean King Restaurant in Sandakan hosted by a Mr. Wong, head of Sandakan Town Council (Mr. Wong is the mayor). We reckon climbing stairs to the Chinese temple is probably not a good idea at noon time. All packages will have dinner at the Sepilok Jungle Resort, which has the best food amongst the three resorts that we have taken over in Sepilok.
2. Second Day - For those who are interested, we will leave the hotels at 8 a.m. to visit the Rainforest Discovery Centre in Sepilok. After the tour, we will pick up the rest from the various lodges and head to the Sim Sim jetties for a speed boat trip via the Kinabatangan River to Sukau. En-route, we will have lunch at the Abai Jungle Lodge. We leave Package C participants here and Package A and B participants continues to Sukau to stay at the Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge. At first, we had booked Package C at the Sri Mennangol chalets next to the Kinabatangan Riverside Lodges but the standard of the chalets does not meet expectations and a vast difference between the two, therefore, we have no choice but to put Package C in Abai which is a very good lodge equivalent in standard to the KRL. Normal dinner is replaced by BBQ dinner at KRL.
3, Third Day - We have added a visit to the Tea Garden at Ranau which is situated next to the war memorial to the victims of the Sandakan Death March in WW2.
4. 4th Day - We have taken out the Fish Massage to make the itinerary less hectic and we can return to the Zen Garden resort for lunch.
5. 5th Day - We have cancelled the Longhouse home stay in Kudat because of the fact that it was deemed not worth the travel and also due to the large number of participants and the age of the group. Instead, we will visit the Mari Mari Cultural village which has been set up about half a year ago and provides a nice experience with regards to local cultures, including a longhouse. We will also have an additional night's stay at the Nexus and enjoy the resort for a few hours. Seafood Dinner in Kota Kinabalu's Ocean Restaurant.
6. 6th Day - Island Hopping in the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, afterwards visit to the handicrafts market and dinner at KK. We thought of adding the Klias wetlands but it takes more than 2 hours to return to the Nexus and people would be very tired. So we have decided not to include it.
7, All participants are booked on the 12:30 and 14:05 departures from Kota Kinabalu to KUL. The later flight should arrive in KL by 17:00 Hours.
Post-AGA Tour: Parameswara Sojourn
Space is currently still available on the this tour being hosted by the Airline Club of Singapore.

Spring Get Together
Photographs from the "WACA Spring Get Together" (which included the European Regional Meeting) held from 16-18 April in Vienna can be viewed on the Interline Club of Portugal's Web site: www.interline.pt.
Far East and Australasia Regional Meeting
Some difficulties were encountered but the meeting went ahead as planned in Singapore from 1-3 May reports Regional V.P., John Aarons. All Clubs from the Region except Auckland and Sri Lanka were present and we were able to successfully complete the Agenda. The most important issue discussed was the pending AGA in Kuala Lumpur. It appears all is in order for this annual event. Any members who are planning to attend, but may not be able to fly directly to Kuala Lumpur, should let me know as all of you should be able to get to Singapore and transport can be arranged by train or bus to KL from there. Any enquires can be sent to me as we can organise to transport you to KL. My sincere thanks to the Club members who assisted me in the holding of the meeting.

Yours in interlining,

Keith Miller
